Tailor-made trips to Botswana from €4.500 per person — indicative.

Botswana is a world of pure magic, born where water meets the desert. Here a river flows not to the ocean but into the sand, forming a living oasis of elephants, leopards, hippos, lions, wildebeest and wild dogs.

It feels untouched, raw and wild: endless gravel roads, water that sets the rhythm of everything, and bush that still belongs to the animals. Life here is lived simply, to the rhythm of nature — fishermen bring in their daily catch, people from the villages lose all sense of day or time, and people are bound to one another in respect and an effortless kindness.

Under some of the darkest starry skies on earth, the San still read the Milky Way as a spiritual path, walked by the spirits of their ancestors.

Botswana chooses few travellers and much wilderness. That makes it precious — and unforgettable.

Who is Botswana suited to?

Botswana suits travellers looking for a small-scale, comfortable safari in vast, water-rich wilderness full of wildlife. It fits those who prefer calm and quality over numbers, and who are willing to invest in an exclusive, low-impact experience.

What is the best time to travel to Botswana?

  • May–October (dry season): the best time for wildlife. Vegetation is low and animals gather around the water.
  • June–August: in the Okavango Delta the water is usually highest then — the ideal moment for trips by mokoro, the traditional dugout canoe.
  • November–April (green season): young animals, migratory birds, lush skies and lower rates; some areas are wetter and harder to reach.

How many days do you need?

For Botswana itself, seven to ten days is a lovely base, often combined with a neighbouring country. Because the lodges are small-scale and exclusive, here you choose quality and depth rather than long strings of destinations. Two or three different areas already give a rich, varied picture.

Which regions do you combine?

  • Okavango Delta (& Moremi) — the famous inland delta: water channels, islands and the mokoro.
  • Chobe National Park — known for its enormous herds of elephants along the river.
  • Makgadikgadi salt pans — surreal, endless plains and spectacular starry skies.
  • Central Kalahari — vast desert, home of the San.
  • Linyanti & Savuti — remote, wild and rich in predators.

What wildlife can you expect?

Botswana is home to the largest elephant population in Africa, along with lions, leopards, buffalo and the rare wild dog. In and around the water live hippos, crocodiles and the graceful red lechwe (a marsh antelope). Birdwatchers are especially well served here, particularly in the green season.

Self-drive or guided safari?

Botswana deliberately chooses small-scale, low-impact tourism. Most travellers stay in guided lodges and camps, often reached by a short flight — the classic fly-in safari. Self-driving and camping is possible, but reserved for experienced 4x4 travellers who love remote wilderness. For most trips we put together a guided route, with experienced local guides.

Is Botswana suitable for families?

Some lodges are suitable for families, but not all: many camps set minimum ages for game drives and mokoro trips. If you travel with children, we deliberately select family-friendly lodges and build the programme around them.

How do you combine Botswana with other countries?

Botswana combines beautifully with the Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe or Zambia), with Namibia via the Caprivi Strip, or with South Africa as a comfortable start or finish.
